I Cities KMC - SWM is the app to run a pilot project by the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).
The pilot project is designed initially to include citizens of one block in each of the five Wards/ Boroughs of KMC.
The app gets started with the registration of all KMC officials and staff associated with SWMD based on their job responsibilities and location of work. Subsequently, the block-level officer i.e. Sub-overseer registers the citizens based on their door no. within a particular block and road zone.
The app enables the classification of citizens in relation to their premises under different types (e.g. residential, commercial, etc.) and categories (e.g. Single storied, Gated community, Hotel, Doctor’s clinic, School, etc.)
The primary objective of the app is to integrate citizens into the process of doorstep waste collection and other services so they remain informed and timely intimated about the services and submit their valued feedback and comments/suggestions.
The app also enables citizens to lodge grievances or request special services related to solid waste management (SWM), track progress, and provide feedback.
The app has been ideated and built by Trikal Technology Solutions Private Limited – a Kolkata-based tech startup working on the development of social applications.
How to work with the app?
# As a Citizen:
## To check doorstep services
You can see or check the updated status of the doorstep waste pickup service at your block and road zone and will also receive notifications about the stage of the service.
In-app display and notification will keep you pre-intimated about the start and completion of the service and help to prepare to hand over the right type of waste at your doorstep.
Status or stages of service:-
1) Starting in 15 minutes
2) Already started
3) Service to complete
4) Service completed
## Lodge your Grievances
You will be able to lodge grievances under different defined categories about any situation or event that has occurred inside your block. You can at your choice add current photos and comments.
Against every grievance, a unique GRV number will be generated and you will be receiving notifications regarding the latest status of redressal.
## Requesting Special Service:
Citizens will be able to request special services under different defined categories at their premises. They can at their choice add current photos and comments.
Against every request, a unique SSR number will be generated and citizens will be receiving notifications regarding the latest status of service delivery.
# As a KMC user:
## To start/check doorstep services
Sub Overseer (SO) of a Block at his selected Road Zone will start the service every day to pick a selected type of waste (Dry or Wet) from the citizen’s doorstep.
Asst. Director (AD) and Overseer (OS) will check and view the services at different Road Zones in their respective Boroughs and Wards.
Other KMC users will check and view the service by selecting the Borough, Ward, Block, and Road Zone.

## Grievances Redressal:
(specific to a unique GRV no.)
The concerned AD will check the details and act on it by assigning it to OS for action & SO to help OS with the redressal. He may also forward the GRV to other municipal departments.
OS will check and act to redress the grievance or cancel the GRV upon discussion with his AD.
Other KMC users will check and view the status of any GRV by selecting the Borough, Ward, and Block.

## Providing Special Service:
(specific to a unique SSR no.)
The concerned AD will check the details and act on it by assigning it to OS for action & SO to help OS in his performance of the job. He may also forward the SSR to other municipal departments.
OS will check and act to perform the job or cancel the SSR upon discussion with his AD.
Other KMC users will check and view the status SSR by selecting the Borough, Ward, and Block.
