Tempo is the speed at which you do a resistance exercise.
Each rep is broken down into four phases:
1. Lowering portion of the lift (Eccentric/Negative)
2. Pause at the bottom
3. Work portion of the lift (Concentric)
4. Pause at top

A professional approach to weight lifting and resistance training combines keeping track of the total number of reps, the speed of each rep and the speed of each phase. That’s a lot to keep in your head at the same time! Tempo counter features four counts that reflect the four phases of the lift and the app counts out each phase of the lift eg:
“Lower 2, 3,4, Pause 2,3,4, Lift 2,3,4, Pause 2,3,4”.
