Urban Jungle AR

Urban Jungle, a smartphone augmented reality (AR) platform developed especially for Coventry’s City of Culture year in partnership with Positive Youth Foundation, will host a series of virtual performances by established and up-and-coming talent – from spoken word and grime artists to dance and circus performers – viewed using a smartphone or mobile tablet at locations around FarGo Village. Akin to “virtual busking”, Urban Jungle uses innovative but accessible technology to raise the profile of young talent, offering them a platform in high-profile locations across their city.

A scaled-up version produced and directed by two Birmingham creative businesses, JellyBob and Rebel Creatives has been created especially for CVX Festival will feature content from the original pilot, plus new virtual performances featuring artists appearing at the festival; the project will act like the virtual companion to CVX: “a festival of art and performance in your pocket”.

How to use this app
The great thing about Urban Jungle AR, is that once you are at FarGo Village in Coventry, you can start anywhere!

For example, head over to The Box, where you’ll find a marker on the floor and a fantastic stage.
Click on the AR button and scan the floor marker by lining-up the watermark on your device.
While pointing your device at the stage, CRMPTS’ will appear before you, performing a riveting beatbox battle.
It’s important that you connect your headphones to get the best possible experience.
