TripQuest GAME
What: Trip Quest is an application inspired by the logic of a Role Playing Game - RPG, a collaborative game in which people participate in narratives guided by a "master." Trip Quest simulates travel situations that challenge players to communicate in English and learn about historical facts.
Who: The game has 1 master and 3 groups of players. We suggest that the teacher be the teacher. It acts as the referee of the game, mediating conflicts, narrating the challenges, informing each group, whether the actions / responses are correct or not, and motivating the groups to work collaboratively.
In narrative, groups have a certain amount of time and money to perform the challenges.
Objective: Collectively resolve the proposed challenges and achieve Quest's goal.
About Quest: Quest's proposal is to visit places (museum, historical point etc.) in a particular city to obtain information related to world wars and / or the creation of the UN.
Each quest is made up of secondary challenges such as arriving at the airport, finding out which hotel is closest or asking where the bus stop is located. The groups receive vocabulary tips in English and the Portuguese translation. The master can choose whether or not to display the translation for the class. After the resolution of each challenge the trip continues.
To start:
(1) Divide the class into three groups (Red, Green and Blue).
(2) Select "Start the game".
(3) Choose "A new match" or "Continue", in this case, the last quest will be restarted.
(4) Read to all participants the "Quest", the maximum time for completion, and the total cash value that groups can use in Quest.
(5) Each group should resolve the challenge and take the response to the master who will insert into the application and give the result to the group. The game continues until Quest, like the various challenges, is completed.
TripQuest was created in the Unicef-Samsung Marathon - Mobile Technologies at School, by the TRIP team of the Juvenile Science and Culture Center of Vitória da Conquista - Bahia.
