Nearly 10,000 people die every year due to late cancer diagnosis in UK, early diagnosis can save up to 10,000 people in UK. Deadliest cancer is killing up to 63,000 people a year. This includes lung, bowel and breast cancer. This situation is absolutely unacceptable. We need to protect our people. Government in UK has place resources to educate people to monitor early stage of cancer but still efforts are not enough. GPs are under pressure due to limited resources and address each individual thoroughly despite they have been doing tremendous job. Experts say early diagnosis can be the difference between a patient living for a short or long time or deciding whether they need surgery, such as a mastectomy, or not because quick access to surgery, drugs or radiotherapy greatly improves chances of survival, with smoking in decline “early diagnosis is our next big challenge in cancer and will be crucial in bringing our survival rates up to the best in Europe(UK specific figures).
