The Central Computer System for the Control of Veterinary Prescriptions for Antibiotics, hereinafter PRESVET, is an effective tool for monitoring and surveillance of prescriptions for antibiotics in livestock farms in order to adopt the measures required for their control. PRESVET centralizes the information on veterinary antibiotic prescriptions, including part of the information that makes up the veterinary prescription, which is essential to meet the objective of monitoring and controlling the use of antibiotics in food-producing animals.

NOTE. The system does not contemplate veterinary prescriptions that are made on companion animals, or data on prescriptions for other veterinary drugs. Similarly, although PRESVET centralizes the information on veterinary antibiotic prescriptions, it must be taken into account that it does not include the electronic management of the veterinary prescription in its functionalities.
