An integrated event-based surveillance system
The event-based surveillance system in learning institutions (LEBS) is an organized collection, assessment and interpretation of data on events in learning institutions. The system is able to promptly detect and immediately report signals/alerts to facilitate rapid response by the public health authorities. The LEBS will utilize the emergency hotlines coordinated by the call centres at the national, county and sub-county levels. The LEBS system is developed for use in surveillance in learning institutions beyond the current pandemic. It takes place in five (5) steps, that is: signal detection, signal reporting, signal verification, event investigation and response.
