Darso began his career in 1962 as a bass player in the music groups Nada Karya and Nada Kencana. Had joined the band belonging to the Bandung Cavalry Armament Center. He was no longer affected by the G 30 S/PKI incident. In 1968 he started his career again with his older brother Uko Hendarso working on music with the main instrument, namely "calung", one of the songs that was popular at that time, "apocalypse".

At the direction of S. Hidayat, Darso was invited to appear on RRI with the Baskara Saba Desa group. Under Asmara Record started recording on cassette tape. Some of the famous songs are "kembang tanjung", "cangkurileung", and "panineungan".
