AtmOOs

AtmOOs is a pilot citizen science channeled through public institutions Eixample that combines the use of new technologies to the field of environmental awareness and knowledge dissemination platforms.

The initiative was created with the aim of a project where not only deepen the awareness and consciousness, but is designed to guide the user in discovering the causes, consequences and possible solutions to air pollution cities.

AtmOOs is a system composed of a mobile application and a Web application. By App can work to suffer from air pollution emissions generated during their journeys, both outward and back, to the respective institutes. The information generated feeds the database engine Web application created with a dual purpose: to spread scientific knowledge related to mobility and air pollution and establish an environment for analysis and exploitation of results that consolidate the participatory experience students.

Barcelona is one of five European cities with the highest levels of air pollution and its main cause is traffic. The Eixample is one of the districts most affected: the amount of vehicles that pass through the urban structure shaped grid and height of buildings, together with the lack of green spaces are some of the factors aggravate the problem.

In this contextual framework are planned through participatory budgeting district of Eixample (Barcelona City Council) a series of actions to work the problem of air pollution associated with mobility institutes.
