The historical situation of the district dates back to the centuries before Christ. Coins belonging to three periods were found in the excavations carried out in the church, locally known as Harabe Church and named Barlahan according to historical records, on Keldağ, the highest point of the region, located in the west of the region. It has been determined that these coins belong to the Ionians, Romans and Abbasids.
Again, it has been determined that there is a city called Montblace in the same region, that it is the third largest city in the world, that all caravan routes pass here, that the first monopoly of winemaking and sericulture in the world was established here, and a hospital with 60 rooms was built. It is stated that the city was completely destroyed as a result of an eruption, since Keldağ, on which the city was founded, is a volcanic mountain. It has been revealed as a result of the research that this church, which is located on Keldağ, is 1700 years old, and that it was built after the church of Senpier.

In addition, it is claimed that it was built before the Hocalar church in the Bayındır area of ​​Denizgören village. In the period when the religion of Christianity first emerged, members of this religion face various pressures and these people are usually raised in places that are out of sight and easy to hide and escape. For this reason, the pictures in the Christianity religion have preserved their feature until today.

The district later passed under the administration of the Ottomans and remained under this administration until the end of the First World War. Evliya CELEBI mentions the town as ORDU village of Tripoli Damascus in his Travel Book.
At the end of World War I, the district was occupied by the French and remained under French rule for 18 years. After Hatay became an independent state, it became a district of the state of Hatay for a year and joined the Republic of Turkey in 1939 with the annexation of Hatay to the Motherland. Our District of Yayladağı became a district with the law numbered 3711 published in the Official Gazette dated 11.07.1939 and numbered 4255 after Hatay became a province in 1939.
